SARA SALIM
Age: 30
Height: 5'4
Occupation: Electronics Engineer
"I have entered Asian Face of Pakistan because I believe I can represent my true heritage and culture within this role".
My name is Sara from North West Leicestershire. I am a Chartered Engineer with a Bachelors Engineering Degree in Digital Communications. My work, as an Electronics/Spectrum Engineer, entails solving complex engineering problems using a range of tools and techniques. I work with Fourier Analysis on a daily basis and use many other advanced Mathematical Tools in my daily work.
I am an ambassador for Engineering and work to encourage young women to consider engineering as a profession. I have appeared on BBC Breakfast TV, with Professor Sir John Beddington, to launch the £1 million Queen Elizabeth II Prize for Engineering. I won the Young Women Engineer of the year Institute of Engineering and Technology award out of a field of hundreds of applicants.
I enjoy reading both fiction and technical papers covering mathematical and engineering subjects. I may come across as a bit of a geek and totally different to the usual entrant to pageants however I’m as much of a girly girl as anyone. I love make up, manicures and dressing up.
I enjoy keeping fit and run every morning. I regularly ride horses and enjoy clay pigeon shooting.
I believe that we should help the people, especially children, in disadvantaged countries and I regularly either contribute or arrange collections for this worthy cause.
I believe I am the ideal candidate to be Miss Pakistan as I bring my passion, deep beliefs and my professional outlook to the role. I wish to break the stereotype, of cooking and cleaning, of a girl with a Pakistani heritage and to show the world how a Pakistani girl can succeed. If I am crowned Miss Pakistan I will use my position to increase the amount of support that we can give to the people in need in Pakistan. I will also raise awareness of the issue of poverty and the disadvantaged within a large proportion of the people of Pakistan.
